Hello, dear craft lovers!
Summer is a wonderful time for creativity, and I really wanted to bring a little sunshine into my home. That’s exactly why I decided to crochet this beautiful sunflower square. It turned out so bright and cheerful that I just had to share how I made it.
Step One: The Heart of the Sun flower. I started with the very center. For this, I took some rich brown yarn and crocheted a small, dense circle. I usually use a magic ring or a few chains joined in a circle to make sure the center is neat and has no hole. Then I worked single crochets to create a solid base.
Step Two: The Golden Petals Once the center was ready, it was time to add the petals! I switched to bright yellow yarn. I crocheted them using a combination of double crochets and chain stitches to create that puffy, raised effect that makes the sunflower look so lifelike. Row by row, the petals “bloomed” around the brown center.
Step Three: The Green Border To keep my sunflower from getting lost, I decided to “frame” it with a classic granny square pattern. I chose a juicy green color that pairs perfectly with the yellow and started working around the flower. I crocheted clusters of three double crochets, separating them with chain stitches. This pattern was the perfect fit because it’s light and airy, and it allows my sunflower to be the star of the show.
What’s Next for This Square? I haven’t decided what I’ll do with this square yet. Maybe it will become part of a large blanket to keep me warm on cool evenings, or a bright cover for a pillow. Or maybe I’ll just hang it on the wall as a little piece of summer cheer. I really hope my idea inspires you to create your own sunny project!
