You can use any width of yarn for this project. A crochet hook in a size suitable for the yarn you’re using. I have used a hook 3.75 mm/F-5 crochet hook – use a slightly smaller hook than usual because you want a nice firm fabric.
Gauge: Single Crochet to 4 inch- 12–17 sts.
Exact gauge is not too important. Just try to keep your stitches fairly tight, to help give structure to the coasters.
Yarn: CATEGORY 3 WEIGHT: DK, Light Worsted.
