How to make a balaclava. Have a look free sewing pattern in PDF. Free download.
What is the balaclava?
A close-fitting, knitted o sewing cap that covers the head, neck, and tops of the shoulders, worn especially by mountain climbers, soldiers, skiers, etc.
I found this free pattern in last night online for a fleece balaclava. I made one this morning in about an hour.
A balaclava, like a ski mask, is a warm, close-fitting winter hat that’s designed to keep your head and neck warm in winter weather. Balaclava-style hats can be worn underneath military or bicycle helmets. With basic sewing skills, you can make a fleece balaclava to keep you cozy this winter. Make one for every member of your family to stay warm for this winter’s snowball fights, trail hikes and skiing adventures.

How to knit the bee stitch
Row 1: Knit all stitches (This is the wrong side of your fabric)
Row 2: Knit 1, *K1B, Knit 1*, repeat from * to end
Row 3: Knit all stitches
Row 4: K2, K1B, *K1, K1B*, repeat from * to the last two stitches, K2
Repeat Steps 1 through 4 until your work reaches the desired length.
K1B = Knit into the stitch below the next stitch on your left needle – you will be dropping the next stitch off the left needle at the same time. This is a bit hard to understand written, so be sure to watch the video if you are confused.
This method creates a sturdy fabric that does not curl or roll like the stockinette stitch pattern can. The bee stitch creates a thicker fabric that is suitable for scarves, blankets, washcloths and pot holders. Use thick yarn and large needles to make a heavier bee stitch piece, or thin yarn and smaller needles for lighter, finer work.

“I got these earrings as a birthday present and they’re lovely. I usually wear stud earrings but when I crave for the look of dangles, these earrings give me the illusion of length without the weight. They’re so light that I often forget I have them on. The earrings are 1″ long; the chains are very fine and the cutout hearts, dainty.”
